Indians First !
Sachin's 20th year of cricket and his words were ,"I am proud to be a Maharashtrian, but I am first and Indian". What words coming from Sachin. In retaliation Balasaheb Thackeray made a comment,"Concentrate on cricket, your words have run you out in the view of Maharashtrians". Shameful words to speak to a man who is the exact antonym of a politician. Widespread dissent has been shown by all and sundry , including the "marathi manoos" of Mumbai against Thackeray's words. But this has been happening too often of late. Raj Thackeray trying to wrest the initiative of being the doyen of Maharashtrians from the ageing Shiv Sena and Balasaheb trying to claw back by using Sachin and every other oppportunity that comes his way. But this seems to have been a bad day and a loss of few lakh votes . The game is finally up. Politicians seem to have exposed themselves too much. Nobody is concerned about the rampant corruption, the rising prices and farmers' suicides. All they are interested is catching the eyeballs of the public at large. Do it, advertisers do it, but not at the expense of divisive politics. The bugle has been sounded, we are Indians, nothing less. Don't try to play with the emotions of people and disrupt the harmony of our country in the name of language, region or religion. The power of the people is rising. No longer does the avearge Indian fall into this trap. Trying it next time and you will lose all power that is vested on you. This farce about preserving the culture ends now. We know what India is and we wish to look at conquering the globe , not getting into the narrow divisive politics that is being played. Those in power will also be in trouble for not being able to curb these activities that harm the secular credentials of this country. Whether it is Sachin or Amitabh Bachchan, as responsible citizens of international repute, we respect them more than petty politicians . Mind it! India is alive and kicking, the world knows it .Thank God, we are Indians!
